Mary A. Lieb,

Mary has a degree in Medical Technology and is ASCP registered. Since 1973, she has been working in transfusion services and hospital-based blood banks. Mary received her Specialty in Blood Banking (SBB) in 1988. She is also a Certified Quality Auditor by ASQ. Mary taught Immunohematology to Pathology Resident Physicians as well as medical technology students. She concurrently held management positions directing technical, administrative and financial processes in AABB and CAP accredited transfusion services, FDA inspected hospital blood banks and laboratories. During her career, she has been responsible for budgetary and administrative management of other laboratory-based departments such as hematology, coagulation, and serology. Mary’s responsibilities also included directing laboratory compliance and the design, development, and implementation of a laboratory quality assurance program.
Mary is an active member of the state and national blood banking community. She serves on the Executive Board of the Pennsylvania Association of Blood Banks and is a member of the Scientific Section Coordinating Committee (SSCC) and past member of the Administrative Section Coordinating Committee (ASCC) and serves on the Annual Education Program Committee of the AABB. Mary’s publications include abstracts on quality assurance as well as technical and clinical topics. She co-authored a chapter on compatibility for The Textbook of Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine (2nd ed.) Mary has participated as a speaker at seminars and workshops on Quality Assurance, HIPAA, and risk management, bench marking and other related topics. She currently is an AABB assessor with national and international experience. |
